Pakistani Police Use Fishing Nets to Defend Against Drone Attacks
Facing an increase in deadly drone and armed attacks by groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistani police in Hangu have implemented a low-cost defense system by stretching fishing nets over vulnerable checkpoints. Costing around 400,000 Pakistani rupees ($1,435) per post, the mesh netting aims to catch incoming drones or detonate them higher up to reduce ground casualties and shrapnel damage. Following successful deployment in Hangu, this anti-drone netting is now being expanded across several other high-risk districts and military outposts in the province.
